History of the Sawmill Chausse
The site of the sawmill has had an industrial vocation for centuries. The surrounding river has brought energy for a forge from which remain a high brick tower.
At the beginning of the wood trade and transformation, in the past century, most tasks were done manually. To begin with, there was no truck or crane or elevator.
When he buys the Lartilley sawmill in 1955, Pierre Chausse already has some experience of the wood industry that he will use in this new context.
Little by little, Pieere Chausse will adapt the production tools to modern standards and allow a growing productivity for the sawmill.
Jean-Pierre Chausse follows his father path in 1972, after studying economics, and will make continuying efforts to further develop the industrial equipment and open to new international markets.
He is helped in all this by Martine, who is in charge of administration and whose recipes are appreciated by clients and traders.
For several years now, they have been joined by two young talented members of the family.
